Editorial Guidelines

In order to guarantee the quality of our content, ITechGyan asks you to keep this in mind when submitting your article:


Although we do write for tech geeks and newbies alike, we expect our audience to know the basics. We encourage you to simplify and to expand on something wherever possible, but you should keep in mind that the audience doesn’t like to be treated as a child.

Users come to our website because they have a certain issue or are looking for specific software. Besides offering them an explanation of how to fix their problem, you should also let them know why the solution you’ve offered works.

Write articles as you would like to read them. Don’t oversimplify, but don’t get too technical either.


We are looking for technology-related content. We embrace software reviews, how-to guides and other types of tutorials. We are not interested in listicles, such as “7 tips and secrets” or “10 tricks you didn’t know of”.

Despite not being interested in listicles, we are interested in comparisons. You can compare the top 5 of something, as long as you do it in-depth.

Content Uniqueness

We expect submitted content to be 100% original. Submissions must pass Copyscape and should never have been submitted anywhere else. We are looking for unique content.

ITechGyan does not tolerate plagiarism.


Content should be between 1000 and 2500 words — not too short nor too long.

We can open an exception on a case-by-case basis. Do not use filler content just because you’re trying to increase your word count.

Articles longer than 2500 words might not be reviewed by the editorial team.


We expect you to use an authoritative tone. Users trust people who seem to know what they’re talking about.

Try to keep everything simple and pretty straightforward, but still be yourself. We do not want every writer that writes for ITechGyan to sound the same. You can even crack a joke every now and then.


When writing your article you should include a two to three sentence long abstract, describing what the article is about and how it will benefit the reader.

The title of the article shouldn’t be longer than 6 words (again, there are times where it might be justifiable to have a longer title).

Headings and subheadings are required for the major divisions of your article. You should use one subheading every three paragraphs. Subheadings should be self-explanatory so users know immediately what the following paragraphs are about.

Pictures are essential. You should try to use one picture per 1000 words. If possibly try to use citations as well — it increases the value of your article.

Don’t forget to leave breathing space. Users surf the web through their phones and don’t enjoy having their screen filled with text. Keep your sentences and paragraphs short whenever possible and don’t forget to leave a line break between paragraphs.

If you’re having trouble finishing your article, try to end it with a question that encourages comments. That usually works for us.

Content should be delivered in .docx or Google Docs.


You should keep in mind that the editor is your first reader. Don’t send him a completely rough draft. Services such as Grammarly and Hemingway help you self-edit your piece and impress your first reader.

Evaluation and Acceptance

Submission of an article does not guarantee publication. Articles need to be reviewed by the editorial team and might require revisions. We will inform you by e-mail if your article has been accepted.

Copyright Transfer

Once the article has been accepted and edited, ITechGyan will hold the copyright to the article. You might be required to sign a copyright assignment form.

Linking Policy

You can freely link to ITechGyan’s internal content. Since this is a guest author position, you can also link once to your blog or website.

You are allowed to link to online services and other software, as long as it makes sense to do so.

Sharing Policy

We encourage you to share the content with your audience. The more people you share your article with, the more readers you’ll have.

A Few Tips

Before you write:

Before you start writing your article, you should ask yourself these questions:

  • Is this topic timely?
  • Is this topic of practical use to the reader?
  • Do I have specific, concrete examples to illustrate my ideas?
  • How can the readers adapt the lessons I have learned to their own lives?
  • What challenges might the reader encounter?

Avoiding pitfalls

Your article will not be accepted if:

  • It isn’t related to technology and our topics
  • It is poorly organized,
  • Lacks original insight,
  • It is overly promotional and self-serving (Articles that only serve to promote a particular company, product, or service will not be published.)

Additional suggestions:

  • Convey your ideas by showing, rather than telling, the reader what to do.
  • Explain your ideas clearly by avoiding excessive jargon, and define jargon you must use.
  • Explain the relevance to others. Make your points using examples from your experience, and then tell readers how they can apply your experience to their situations.
  • Avoid the passive voice. Active language is straightforward and simple.
  • Avoid wordiness.
  • Reread and proofread your article at least twice.
  • If necessary, move paragraphs to achieve continuity, and use transition sentences to ensure that paragraphs flow smoothly from one to another.
  • Check the accuracy of your article. Using your original source material, verify every date, name, fact, and figure. Accuracy is your responsibility.
